| But didn't get a $111 fine associated with it. Is that fine for something else like speeding or something? Call the # on the ticket or call the police station and ask them what you can do. Anyway... I ended up getting it removed for $10 and bolted my front plate on (with zip ties mind you). Pulled it into the police station to get written off, and he didn't even get off his ass to check it out in person. He just sat at the front desk and looked at it through the parking lot video monitor. Saw that the plate was on but couldn't see the tint and asked me if I removed it. I said "yes". He took my word for it and wrote the ticket off. In hindsight I probably could have done my original plan where I would have a friend with a black Z like mine pose with my plates and no tint, but I was too worried about them checking the VIN. If they catch you on that, that's BAD news. I don't know what the offense would be, but I'm assuming along the lines of fraud with HUGE fines attached and possibly even jail time. Probably not worth it. It cost me $50 to get the tint put back on, and a $10 processing fee. So $70 in all every time I get caught for tint. Not too bad really. I don't think there will be a next time, though, as I'll be more careful to roll down windows around cops.
